Utah citizens will have the option of paying for purchases with silver and gold if a measure recently passed by the state's House of Representatives is approved by the Senate and signed into law by the governor.Read more ....
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the bill would also mandate that Utah study the possibility of adopting an alternative form of legal tender based on those precious metals. The measure's sponsor, Brad Galvez, told the newspaper the issue was one of economic safety.
"This is a step in preparedness, a step in security …. that allows us to be able to help hold up our economy as the dollar continues to shrink," he said.
